We hold awards yearly but we have not been able to update them all, these are from 2011 but we have many more every year.
You can train for your Bronze, Silver and Gold Kennel Club Awards with us.
Awards September 2011
Well done to you all who gained your Bronze and Silver Awards. Thanks to both Mrs Jean Entwistle (Beesting Border Collies) and Mr Andrew Watson (Cuerdenlake Labradors) for giving up their time to come and judge the awards for us.
I remember just how it felt when I took my KCGC, sick, shaky and worried. That was me; Holly my Black Lab was as cool as a cucumber. Guess who judged me back in the 80’s? Jean Entwistle. I recently found my certificate with Jeans name on otherwise I don’t think I would have remembered who the judge was.
Nice to see we have some juniors who are gaining awards. Well done to both Amy and Jayke for getting their Bronze. Very well done to Jayke for 2 weeks later gaining his Silver. Shame Amy didn’t turn up to do her Silver. Hopefully she will get it next time.
I was very pleased for all who passed both levels, as I said earlier I still remember feeling nervous and how important it was to me to it right on the day. I am sure you all agree it a bit nerve racking. It is a combination of both dog and handler working together and dogs are dogs sometimes they manage to screw up (sometimes it is the handlers fault) even when they can do it so well.
The judges are not just looking at how the dog performs a certain exercise they are looking to make sure the handler is giving the dog the correct commands and also to make sure that the handler is capable of handling a dog correctly. Thankfully you all showed that you had the skills required.
We have others who are almost ready to take Bronze and others that are almost ready for the Silver. They won’t be long before they have the pressure day!!
Most of those who passed the Silver are ready to take the Gold. We still have to run yet another silver to enable the ones who missed the last test because of holidays, to get the award, allowing them to go forward for gold.
Once again “well done to both the dogs and handlers for passing both the Bronze and Silver”.
Looking forward and working towards the gold has to be your aim now!
Keep up the good work.
